Left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal became India's saviour on day one of the second England Test which is being played at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, on Friday.
Jaiswal, featuring in his sixth Test match, saved India from a certain day-one collapse as despite losing wickets from the other end, he continued the charge against the English bowlers.
The 22-year-old came as an opener alongside his skipper Rohit Sharma at the start of the play and by the time of stumps, he was still on the crease with Ravichandran Ashwin.
The left-handed batter was praised for his iconic batting display and from former cricketers to fans, no one could refrain from lauding the 22-year-old’s remarkable effort.
By the time of stumps, Jaiswal was batting on 179* alongside Ashwin (5*) as India concluded the day at 336/6.
He was supported greatly by Shreyas Iyer (27), Rajat Patidar (32) and Axar Patel’s (27) cameos during his innings.
Shoaib Bashir and Rehman Ahmed took two wickets each for the visitors while James Anderson and the hero of the first Test, Tom Hartley, picked one each.
